Preserving Local Heritage: Exterior Restoration, Canvey Island

Hanover Builders was proud to undertake the exterior restoration of a well-known historic landmark on Canvey Island, a building that holds deep significance within the local community. With a history tied to countless memories and events, this project was approached with the utmost care, respect, and attention to detail.

While previous works had upgraded elements such as the roof, the side and rear elevations required a full restoration to bring the entire property up to a consistent standard. Our team carried out a comprehensive programme of works to improve both the appearance and long-term durability of the building.

Key works included:

• Window Upgrades: Existing units were replaced with high-performance uPVC windows, carefully selected to enhance energy efficiency and security while remaining in keeping with the building’s traditional character.
• Render Restoration: All damaged and deteriorated render was removed and professionally re-applied, creating a uniform, weather-resistant finish across the affected elevations.
• Façade Rejuvenation: The exterior underwent a full deep clean to remove years of buildup, followed by precise crack repairs and a complete repaint using high-quality, durable coatings suited to heritage properties.
• Soffit & Fascia Replacement: New soffits and fascias were installed at lower levels, improving both ventilation and the overall finish of the building.

The result is a refreshed, structurally sound exterior that not only enhances the building’s appearance but also protects it for years to come.
